Take a Road to Your Dreams | Guest Post | Hina Siddiqui

For years I kept on believing that success is all about having priceless possessions, proving ourselves to the people who matter (and even those who don’t), defeating others, getting people talk about our glorious victories, and earning a lot of money to show off.

But, one day it all changed.

Continually chasing the kind of success which was more for others, and less for me, I started feeling terribly tired.

Although I felt exhausted and defeated, that day was the brightest day of my life. Because then, I chose to listen to my heart and decided to take the road to my dreams.

Was it easy?

Not at all!

But it was totally worth it.

My question to you is:
Are you living a life of your dreams?

Or do you think this ‘dream life thing’ is pretty impractical? If you think so, then let me tell you that it’s totally possible.

When I started my rough and tough journey, I never imagined my life would ever feel so fantastic.

So, if you never have thought about turning your life into your own unique authentic journey, think about it now.

“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins” – Bob Moawad

Why are people afraid to pursue their dreams?

Ideally, life is glorious. We expect a lot from it, but not always give what it demands.
Many of us spend the most of it just wishing, thinking, praying and dreaming. But is that what serves our desires? Probably yes, but only in our dreams.

I meet such people on the daily basis. (No, I am not exaggerating.)
They dwell on the fruition of their desires and wishful dreams without doing anything much towards it.

Post many years, I still see most of them doing the same – wishing, thinking, praying and dreaming.

This has only made them a bit more frustrated, lowered their self esteem and strengthened their belief that it’s never easy to get close to their dreams and desires.

This has made their life more complicated and painful over the years.
I have spoken to a number of people to find out that a majority of them want huge amounts of money, glamour, luxury and a fantastical life style.

I agree that expecting all this in life is no crime, but, it’s just like wishing to win a lottery without even buying a lottery ticket. Isn’t it?

When our desires are not fulfilled, we blame life to be unfair. We accuse destiny for our misfortune, only to increase our sufferance. So, why not take a road to our dreams? Let’s do it now!!!

Now is the ACTION TIME – Take a Road to your Dreams

The two simplest things we need to do to realize our dreams are:

1. Do what needs to be done
2. Stop doing what is preventing us to achieve

Let’s break it down into 3 broad TASKS:

Task 1: Scan your Different Life Areas

To do this well, you need a notebook, a pen and a good amount of your distraction free time.

Closely look into following areas of your life. (One at a time)
  1. Health & Fitness
  2. Career
  3. Married life / Romantic Relationship
  4. Family, Friends & Social
  5. Finance
  6. Personal Growth
  7. Fun & Recreation

Now, I want you to write down how you really feel in each area.

Are you satisfied?
  • Completely
  • Partially or
  • Not at all

The Life Area where you feel completely satisfied is going good.

Your job is to feel gratitude about it and nurture it further.

In other two cases, you need to do real work.

Task 2: Figure out what’s going wrong

If you feel dissatisfied with more than one life area, please don’t lose heart. It’s totally normal.

The best thing is that you have taken a brilliant decision to transform how you would like to live and feel about your life starting this moment.

I usually recommend my clients to focus on ONE LIFE AREA AT A TIME.

So, PICK ONE which is most important to you.

Let’s say, it is career for you.

Why do you feel dissatisfied? What should that ideally look like? Is this the right career for you? Or you have been dreaming about being in some other profession?

Or you don’t find your workplace environment thriving?

Take some time, and feel the answers.

Jot down your thoughts in your notebook.

Task 3: Create a Killer Plan of Action

Indulging in this solution oriented heart storming exercise will get your mind working on the right track.

Now you’re in the best state of mind to figure out a plan that will connect you to your dream life in that particular life area.

Stop for a while, and feel gratitude for having this transformational opportunity.
Visualize for a few minutes.

Close your eyes.

See yourself living your perfect life in your chosen Life Area that you are in love with. Use all your senses. Feel every color, texture, and impact of that awesome dream.

Believe it’s going to be yours very soon.

Now get back to your Plan of Action:
  • Work up your lists.
  • Innovate different ways of going ahead with your dream.
  • Make life fun and happening.
  • Go beyond your fears.
  • If your beliefs are holding you back, then change them.
  • And yes, be original.

Try to do something different every day to achieve this dream.

Aim to do at least 2-3 things each day.

If you can’t come up with something different, then go back and try something you already did, but a little better this time.

Finally:

Your life is the MOST PRECIOUS possession, your most valuable project. And it deserves your love, attention, and care.

Nothing is more disappointing to me than seeing people waste their talents & passions just because they are scared of taking action.

Achieve success. But before that, define it for yourself. Success is much more than acquisition of large amounts of money and fame.

What does it mean to you?

How can you change a little everyday to reach your BIG DREAM?

What are the small but CORE INGREDIENTS FOR SUCCESS that you can instantly start using and see huge results?

Find out the right answers if you haven’t yet. My book “Road to Riches of Life” pictures my transformative journey, and gives you all the tools you need to GET THERE with a huge smile on your lovely face.

Take action NOW, even if you choose a small amount of it.

When constantly applied, it would yield awesome results.

I am certain that you’re going to blast it. My belief in you is rock solid. I want you to have the same amount of faith in your abilities and the universe to make your desires and dreams come true.

I guess I am living a life of my dreams. It may not be exactly what I want but I am happy and contented. I still have a lot of dreams wishing to attain and I am just happy that I am on track in achieving them.

Will find time over the weekend to do the activity you shared. Thank you for sharing this.

Great post! No doubt, we all have our dreams and fantasies and hope we achieve even a quarter of them soon. Als, for some, family or financial obligations hinder them from fully pursuing their dreams or at least, keep them on the back burner for a bit.

I can only dream to make my life better. Yes, I can only dream. I know I have the capability to change the current state I am in, but I am tied down to the responsibility of caring for my husband who has mobility issues. Maybe when he gets better, or when we win the lottery so we can afford a live-in nurse. Maybe then I can spread these broken wings. I will bookmark this article and still think of ways to improve my life even if I am confined to the house.

Good read. Determining your goals in all aspects of your life is the first step and then breaking it down and not letting excuses stop you is key. “Take action now.”

This is such a positive read. I think that a lot of people fear to attempt reaching their dreams because other things in life seem to come first, such as job, money, relationships. I think that when you worry about surviving is hard to think about dreams.
